To install the latch, first scribe a line around it for alignment, then remove the mounting bolts and detach the hood opener cable by detaching it from the latch. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring the latch is adjusted so the hood engages securely and the bumpers are slightly compressed. For the cable on 2008 and earlier models, remove the front bumper cover, while for 2009 and later models, remove the grill cover. Disconnect the hood opener cable from the latch, remove the right front inner fender splash shield, and pull down the lower part of the air intake silencer. Use a clip remover to detach the clip, peel off the vinyl tape around the engine compartment wire harness and opener cable, and remove the cable from the harness clips along with the grommet from the body. Attach a piece of wire or string to the end of the cable, then in the passenger compartment, remove the driver's side kick panel and the fastener securing the hood release handle before disconnecting the cable from the handle. Push the grommet through the body into the passenger compartment, ensuring the new cable has a grommet attached, then replace the old cable with the new one and pull the wire back through the body. Finally, reverse the removal process for installation, pushing on the grommet with your fingers from the passenger compartment to seat it completely in the firewall.

The door and trunk locks should be lubricated using spray-on graphite lubricant.
