To repair 2008 and earlier models, first, the two screws under the front part of the shift knob must be unscrewed while pulling the shift knob button upward to get the knob off the shifter. To remove, depress the shift knob button up and rotate the shift knob counter clockwise to disengage it from the shifter then take it off.To install, pull up on the shift knob button again, place the shift knob on the shifter then fasten it with two screws. On 2009 and later models, first shift to the "S" position; to access the fasteners one has to pry off the trim in front of shift knob using a trim tool or a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Undo the two screws and shift knob can be pulled up to be removed. Removing is done in the opposite manner of installing, and as a result installing also has an opposite.
