    Inspect spark plug wires when installing new plugs. Check for arcing or sparking in a dark, ventilated area. If found, replace wires. After the engine cools, check the distributor cap and rotor. Disconnect each wire from the spark plug, checking for corrosion. Clean and inspect each wire for damage. If new wires are needed, replace one at a time to maintain firing order. Check the distributor cap for cracks and worn contacts. Replace the cap orwires if resistance is too high. When installing a new cap, transfer wires one at a time to avoid mix-ups.

    How to remove and install a distributor cap and Rotor for the Honda Prelude? Posted by Customer

    Before you take off the distributor cap, make sure to mark the positions of the wires. Unscrew the bolts that hold the cap and then pull out the rotor. Record down your radios security code as you disconnect the battery. Remove ignition wires from both the cap and distributor cap itself. You should look for any damage on the seal or cap. Now place that rotor into its shaft and put back that cap in its housing. Tighten them using a crisscross pattern of fasteners. Then, reattach wires and batteries and punch in radio code numbers too. Replace them if they are cracked or their electrodes are worn out and clean before reinstalling them.
