    Q:
How do you remove and install the clutch release bearing and Clutch Fork on Honda Passport? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the component, first and foremost untwist the negative cable of the battery. Next, remove the transmission. To perform MSG and MUA transmissions, the retaining spring, holding the release bearing to the clutch fork should be removed and the release bearing slipped off from the transmission input shaft. In Borg-Warner transmissions, the clutch fork is equipped with a flat retaining clip which is welded to the backside of the fork. For MUA transmissions coupled to the V6 engine, the clutch fork rotates on a pin of fed on the fulcrum bridge; to remove it, undo the retainer, washer and the pivot pin of the fulcrum bridge in addition to unclipping the retaining clips that hold the release bearing to the clutch fork fingers. Snap the clutch release fork straight away from the ball stud. Support the bearing of the inner part and bring the latter in the horizontal position; if it rotates with noise or becomes stuck, get a new one. This is not meant to be immerged in solvent as it is a sealed for life bearing, wipe the bearing with a clean rag while checking for any damages, wears and cracks that may be present. For installation, just apply a few drops of moly based grease on the fingers of clutch fork and an appropriate thin layer on the inside of the bearing and the transmission input shaft bearing retainer. Position the release bearing and clutch fork as such that the fork's fingers snap into the bearing groove while any springs or retainers fit in as well. Apply Molybdenum Disulphite grease on the clutch fork ball socket and push the fork on the ball stud such a way that you are able to see clutch bearing slipping on the input shaft. For V6 models, this is the time to lubricate the pivot pin which should be followed by the pin, washer and retainer. Reverse the steps followed in the removal process, and fasten all bolts in place with the appropriate tightness.
