Raise the car and place it safely on jack stands before taking off the wheel. Loosen the jam nut on the tie-rod end, and mark its position in relation to the tie rod to retain that mark on reassembly. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the tie-rod end ball stud and disconnect it from the steering arm using a puller; unscrew the tie-rod end. Connect again, attaching a new cotter pin by tightening the nut and securing it back to where it belongs with respect to the steering arm. After that, tighten up two bolts of jam nut, attach the wheel back, lower down the vehicle and pull lug nuts tight. Inspect front-end alignment and make necessary corrections if any.
