In the instances when the replacement of the wheel cylinders is recommended, such as when the fluid leakage is identified or the operation of the wheel cylinder is 'sticky', it is best to replace wheel cylinders in sets rather than overhaul them. Firstly, lift the rear of the car and support it using jackstands and to ensure it does not roll lock the front wheels. Take off the brake shoe assembly then scrub all the deposits of dirt and other related materials around the wheel cylinder. Remove the wheel cylinder brake line but do not pull it off the cylinder; unscrew the mounting bolts of the wheel cylinder. Next, you should debonnet the brake wheel cylinder from the brake backing plate and using some Keystone clamp, secure off the brake line so that there is no spilling of the brake fluid. For installation, place the new wheel cylinder and tightened the bolts with your fingers, then join the brake line to the cylinder and do not thread it the wrong way. Torque the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to the recommended specification to hold the brake line fitting in place. Replace the brake shoe assembly and pump the brakes, then test the car from brake and possibility to engage the emergency brake.
