    Q:
How Do I Replace the Heater Core in My Honda Crosstour? Posted by Customer
    A:
If equipped, have the air conditioning system refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the air conditioning evaporator lines at the firewall, mark the heater control valve cable at the retaining clip and release the clip to detach the cable. Turn the heater valve arm counterclockwise to the fully open position after the cable has been disconnected. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core at the firewall, remove the heater/air conditioning unit mounting nut from the firewall within the engine compartment, disconnect any electrical connectors to the unit and the heater valve control cable that is located on the left side, remove the mounting fasteners and then lift the heater/air conditioning unit out of the vehicle. Remove the mounting screws for the upper and lower ducts, disconnect the electrical connectors and harness fasteners on the unit, remove the mounting screws for the heater outlet duct and then remove it, remove the mounting screws for the heater core cover and then remove it, and remove the heater core. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the points to connect all electrical connectors on the heater/air conditioning unit before reinstalling the instrument panel, make sure that the heater control valve cable is placed back in the same position, reconnect the heater hoses within the engine compartment, and refill the cooling system. If equipped with A/C, have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. To adjust the heater control valve cable, detach the cable from the air mix control, set the temperature control dial to MAX COOL with the blower on LO and the ignition key ON, reattach the cable to the air mix control, move the heater control valve to the fully open position and hold it, attach the cable to the valve control arm, lightly pull on the cable housing to take up any slack and then place the cable housing into the retaining clip and secure it, and start the vehicle and operate the climate controls and confirm correct operation.
