When replacing entire components, additional refrigerant oil should be added equal to the amount that is removed with the component being replaced. Be sure to read the can before adding any oil to the system, to make sure it is compatible with the R-134a system. Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On V6 models, remove the battery and battery tray. Remove the radiator cover. Remove the fresh air intake duct cover and tube. On V6 models, remove the condenser fan. Remove the radiator brackets. Disconnect the receiver (lower) line from the condenser (The upper and lower line connections to the condenser) and the electrical connector for the air conditioning pressure switch. Cap the condenser and line fittings to prevent entry of dirt or moisture. Remove the condenser mounting bolts. Remove the discharge (upper) line from the condenser. Cap the condenser and line fittings to prevent entry of dirt or moisture. Carefully lift the condenser out while separating it from its lower mounts to remove it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Assemble all connections with new O-rings, lightly lubricated with R-134a refrigerant oil. Only use 0-rings that are designed specifically for AIC system applications. If a new condenser was installed, add 5/6-ounce of fresh refrigerant oil. Reconnect the battery. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
