The water passage is a push type assembly to attach any parts such as thermostat housing, water pump, drivebelt tensioner, air conditioning compressor, alternator, and PCV hose. It is fitted , fixed and is supposed to be sealed against the engine block and can only be opened if there is a leakage. To uninstall it, firstly, pull the cable out, the negative terminal of the battery, secondly, turn off the engine and drain the cooling system. Then, let us have the thermostat out of its housing and then the alternator if you can, and the air conditioning compressor without taking off the lines, and let's fasten it aside. Then the splash shield situated beneath the engine compartment and the intake manifold has to be taken off. Disconnect the pipe connecting the water passage to the water bypass hose and PCV valve and, using spanners, remove the bolts joining the water passage and the engine block and take off the thermostat housing. For installation, it is required that the sealing surface of the water passage is clean, no old gasket material remaining; then, a new O-ring is to be inserted into the groove. RTV sealant must be used to seal the surface between the engine block and water passage, a small amount on the inner threads of the bolt hole. There will be found the water passage and finally screw the bolts up to the recommended torque. The rest steps are vice versa of removing and take at least 3 hours for setting and drying of the RTV sealant before refilling of the cooling system. Last but not the least; add coolant in the cooling system.
