Set the parking brake, then place the shift lever in the Neutral position for Civic and Reverse position for CR-V. Remove the center console panels, nut that secures the shift cable end, socket holder, shift lock solenoid electrical connector, park pin electrical connector, center console bracket, and four bolts for Civic. For CR-V, remove the center console, shifter trim panel, access panel, shift knob (O/D switch) electrical connector, shift cable from the shifter assembly, shift lever connector, and three bolts. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, but verify the indicator for the neutral position lights with the ignition switch on and adjust the shift cable, if necessary.
