To remove the steering wheel, start by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery and waiting at least three minutes. Then, remove the airbag connector access panel from the bottom of the steering wheel and disconnect the airbag module electrical connector. Remove the airbag module mounting fasteners and carefully set it aside. Disconnect the connectors for the radio remote switch and the cruise control switch. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut or bolt and use a steering wheel puller to break the steering wheel from the shaft.
