On top of the throttle body, locate the vacuum hose that connects to the MAP sensor and detach it, replacing it with a vacuum gauge. Start the engine and warm it to normal operating temperature, ensuring the gauge indicates no vacuum. Slightly open the throttle from idle to verify the gauge shows vacuum; if it does not, check for clogs in the port and clean it with aerosol carburetor cleaner if needed. Stop the engine and ensure the accelerator cable and throttle valve operate smoothly without binding or sticking, checking for sludge build-up if there are issues. If sludge is present, attempt to remove it with aerosol carburetor cleaner or a similar solvent, and if cleaning does not resolve the issue, replace the throttle body. To remove the throttle body, detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the air duct connecting the air cleaner assembly to the throttle body, unplug the throttle position sensor connector, and label and detach all vacuum hoses. Detach the accelerator cable and, if equipped, the transaxle Throttle Valve cable, then remove the coolant hoses from the throttle body, plugging the lines to prevent coolant loss. Unscrew the four mounting nuts to separate the throttle body from the air intake plenum, and remove the throttle body and gasket, ensuring all old gasket material is cleared. For installation, reverse the removal steps, using a new gasket, adjusting the accelerator cable and Throttle Valve cable if equipped, and checking the coolant level, adding as necessary.
