    Q:
How to conduct battery maintenance for the Honda Civic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Get safety goggles, baking soda, Vaseline, battery cleaner, felt washers, pullers, and gloves before you do anything about your battery. Shut down the engine and disconnect the negative clamp. Avoid any sparks next to it because it contains flammable hydrogen gas; therefore charge it in a ventilated area. Battery electrolyte is corrosive so avoid contact with it. Check the battery for any visual damage or loose connections. For corroded ones remove cables and clean them with a baking soda solution. Make sure that the terminals are clean and shiny. When reinstalling do not over tighten clamp bolts. Discharged batteries/maintenance slow-rate chargers should be used. Do not attempt rapid boost charges during charging mode. It takes approximately 12-16 hours to fully charge one's battery.

    Q:
How do you remove and replace a car battery for the Honda CR-V? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal first, then disconnect the cable from the positive battery terminal. Remove the battery hold-down clamp. Lift out the battery, but be careful as it's heavy. Battery straps and handlers are available at most auto parts stores for reasonable prices and they make it easier to remove and carry the battery. If you are replacing the battery, make sure you get one that's identical, with the same dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to connect the positive cable first and the negative cable last.

    Q:
What should you do before disconnecting the battery in the 2014 Honda Civic with power door locks? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before disconnecting the battery in vehicles with power door locks, it is advisable to remove the key from the ignition and keep it with you to prevent accidental engagement of the power door locks when the battery is reconnected.
