Next, remove the lower arm-to-trailing arm bolt and the shock absorber-to-lower arm bolt, then disconnect the inner pivot bolt and nut from the lower arm to detach it from the chassis. Inspect the lower arm bushings for cracks and deterioration; if any are worn, have them pressed out and new ones installed by a dealer service department or other repair shop. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the specified torque. For the compensator arm, remove the compensator arm-to-trailing arm bolt, then the compensator arm-to-body nut and bolt, and take out the compensator arm. Inspect the compensator arm bushings for wear and deterioration; if replacement is needed, have them pressed out and new ones installed by a dealer service department or an automotive machine shop. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring both fasteners are tightened to the specified torque. Disconnect the brake hose from the wheel cylinder or rear caliper and plug the hose to prevent leakage or contamination, then remove the brake drum and brake shoes or the rear caliper and disc. Disconnect the parking brake cable, remove the rear hub and bearing assembly, and take out the brake backing plate. Detach the upper, lower, and compensator arms from the trailing arm, then disconnect the parking brake cable bracket from the trailing arm. Remove the bolts from the trailing arm bushing to detach the trailing arm from the body, ensuring to detach the parking brake cable bracket. Inspect the trailing arm bushing for cracks and deterioration; if it needs replacement, have it pressed out and a new one installed by a dealer service department or other repair shop.
