    Q:
How to remove and install suspension arms on Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
New nuts and bolts must be used on assembly for all rear suspension arms as per current manufacturing norms. First remove the rear wheel lug nuts, then jack up the rear of the car and secure it on jackstands while chocking the front wheels. Take off the wheel then place the lower arm 'B' on a prise using the jack rod positioning it at the coil spring pocket. Withdraw the lock pin from the castle nut, then unscrew the nut but do not extract it, and use a puller to pry apart the balljoint and the knuckle and thereafter, extracting the nut. Next, affected the removal of the upper arm to chassis mounting bolt. For installation reverse the above procedure and torque the balljoint stud castle nut to the lower torque figure while fitting a new lock pin. Lift lower arm B and put further torque on the control arm-to-subframe bolts and then put on final torque on the wheel lug nuts. For lower arm A, support it similarly, remove the lower arm-to-chassis and lower arm-to-knuckle mounting bolts and thus take out the arm. 1, when installing you should ensure the washer on the arm-to-knuckle mounting stud is facing the convex outward and raising the rear suspension to approximate normal ride height before fastening all nuts on the stud and lug nuts on the wheel. For lower arm B, supporting it, dismantling the ABS wheel speed sensor and its harness brackets, then loosing the control arm-to-vehicles-knuckle bolts. Crank the floor jack to stretch the coil spring and then unbolt it, noting the positional location between the toe adjuster cam and subframe as loosen the pivot bolt and nut. For installation, align the marks made at the toe adjuster cam and subframe position and then using raise lower arm B, tighten fasteners and check wheel alignment at rear. In the case of the trailing arm, first, it is necessary to disassemble the brake assembly and to undo the brake hose and line brackets for trailing arm control arm B, also to separate the trailing arm to knuckle bolt and trailing arm to chassis bolt before taking out the trailing arm. The only time that one has to bleed the brakes is if a hydraulic fitting was undone during installation and all fasteners have to be tightened to the standard torque. Last, make sure that by aligning the last gear check and adjust the rear wheel if it is faulty.
